Flavio Camponeschi (CRG / Parilla) did not start the 2017 World Championship Final at PFI as he was injured in an incident in his last heat. The weather remained stable and temperatures were high enough without the threat of rain. After a false start, Pedro Hiltbrand (Tony Kart / Vortex) seemed to encounter exhaust valve problems. He did in fact start less quickly than expected, causing some trouble in the pack. Esteban Muth (Zanardi / Parilla) was in the wake of the leader, Danny Keirle (Zanardi / Parilla), followed by Juho Valtanen (Kosmic / Vortex) and David Vidales (Tony Kart / Vortex) 4th. Behind the lead quartet, Oliver Hodgson moved into 5th place ahead of Paavo Tonteri (Tony Kart / Vortex). Hiltbrand gave up on the second lap. Starting 19th, Adam Eteki (Zanardi / Parilla) was 15th.
A gap of two tenths separated the four protagonists, one second ahead of Hodgson. Later, Lorenzo Travisanutto (Zanardi / Parilla) had returned from 30th to 20th place. On lap 8, Vidales attacked for the 3rd position. Keirle increased his lead to 5 tenths in mid-race by posting several fastest laps in the race. The situation did not change until the finish. Danny Keirle won an unexpected World Champion title against another outsider, Esteban Muth, 2nd on the line and on the podium, but then sanctioned for a dislodged spoiler. David Vidales took 2nd place and Valtanen 3rd, Tonteri 4th, and after Hodgson’s penalty Lindh took 5th place.
